Age restricted communities in Metropolitan Las Vegas have become very popular for retirees and those thinking of retiring. Age restricted communities in and around Las Vegas, as exemplified by Sun City Anthem, are filled with amenities that help replace the time that was spent working with more enjoyable activities. Most of the age restricted communities in Metropolitan Las Vegas have club houses that range in size from as small as 12,000 S.F. to over 100,000 S.F. of total area.
An age restricted community is no longer just a shuffle board game and a few card tables. Today’s age restricted communities in Metropolitan Las Vegas contain fitness centers with up to date equipment (many are staffed with fitness counselors), swimming pools, tennis courts and golf courses. For less strenuous activity, there are theatre groups, reading clubs, numerous arts and crafts, RV and travel clubs just to name a few. The low tax situation combined with no hurricanes, tornadoes, snow (at least not enough to shovel) mostly sunny days and low humidity, no mud slides and great shopping, dining and entertainment provides a great place to live plus all of your friends and family will love visiting you.
There is no state income tax in Nevada and the property tax on a $400,000 house is generally less than $4,000 per year. Because most of the homes are built of stucco they are very low maintenance and because desert landscaping is the norm, you aren’t tied down to spending one day each week working in the yard. For a while, Del Webb had a tag line “Retire from Work, Not Life” It was right then and it certainly makes sense now.
